About 25 miles south of Columbus, Circleville is a charming small town with a community of about 15,000 people. Circleville is named for the circular portion of a large Hopewell era earthwork it was built upon. The city was designed in a circular pattern, around an octagonal courthouse in the center in the 1770s. Residents eventually opted to change the design to a more traditional and convenient grid.
